1/20, f5, ISO 800, Focal Length 35.0mm, No Flash, 2 Umbrella Lights.
Here is my 1st True Self Portrait. It has taking me several hours of moving my umbrella lights to get to this point and I am frustrated. I have done some reading about lighting, but just can't quite get it. I know that I need a main light that should be positioned about 45 degrees up and to one side and the other light should be used as a fill, but I still can't get a soft shadow to one side of my face. Also, the color is still off. I have changed my metering, but it doesn't seem to help. At this point I am open to any suggestions.
Sorry, girl...I only use natural light so far! I do know that using a gray card seems to be the safe way to handle skin tones...You captured some nice catch lights IMO.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have to admit I am giving up the umbrella lights for the rest of the week and use natural light. I'd rather work on creativity than light.
ReplyDeleteMe too - which I think horrifies a lot of photographers :)
