About Me

My photo
In the last few years I have yearned for something more, something to push my creativity and challenge my mind. Through the 365 Project and Photography I have found a passion that has filled a hole in my heart. A sense of being and a meaning to my life. I hope my pictures live on forever even if only through my children and my blog.

#3 B&W

My girls are teens, therefor "cute" pictures aren't up their alley. So in order to get them to let me get some pictures of them today I had to make it fun.

1/400, f3.5, ISO 200, conversion all in Photoshop, used gradient map adjustment layer and burned the background.

#2 Accidental Letters

I was going to try to post the letters of my name in order, but it is raining out and I couldn't find a "U" today, so here's an "A". I'll put them all together at the end of the week.

#7 My Home Town

Took the girls strawberry picking. We have 3 strawberry patches in Carthage, 3 years ago we had 1.

This didn't come out quite how I imagined it. I wanted to get a close up of a strawberry with one of the girls blurred in the background. The strawberries were really low to the ground, so I have to almost lay on the ground to get this shot.  Also, it was really hot out and the girls were not in the mood for their picture to be taken.

#6 My Home Town

We have some beautiful Historic Homes, most are kept up, but some are left to rot. The 2nd is my favorite, I wish the owner would restore this house (yes someone actually lives in it) because you don't see architecture like this anymore. I hate that I blew the sky in 2 of these, the back lighting was harsh.

#5 My Home Town

My DH and friend let me snap some shots while they were out golfing today. Moore County has over 40 golf courses, the most famous being Pinehurst.

#2 My Home Town

This is or court house which was built in 1784. Everything in town centers around the court house as we are the county seat. Some may recognize the doorway as I used it in one of my framing pictures.
1/20, f16, ISO 1600 (Arghhh, shutter speed is too slow! I wanted to use f16 to get a crisp shot, but because it was overcast and shaded by 2 huge oak trees I had to go to ISO 1600 and my shutter speed is too low)

#1 My Home Town

My town held it's annual "Buggy Festival" yesterday so it was a great opportunity for some "Home town" shots. The Buggy Festival has a little of everything. I didn't get a good shot of a Buggy, but I'm sure I will post one later in the week.

#6 Affection

I thought about taking a shot like this all week, but was afraid it may be a stretch for the theme and some might think it morbid. Today I decided I had to take. I stopped at my town's cemetery and walked around until I found one that spoke to me. I guess you could say this is how we show affection after one has died.

Affection

I took these picts of my neighbors kids this past Sunday. I had a lot of light issues. I have spent a lot of time in Photoshop color correcting and I think I finally got them to look decent. I didn't post my setting as I have changed these so much in Photoshop I didn't think it would help.

#3 Affection

It was raining out when I took these so the light wasn't great, but I love the girl's expression. Hard to get real smiles out of them at this age. The 1st is my favorite, while the girl's liked the 2nd. The 2nd image was a challenge to color correct as the umbrella gave a bad blue cast to their skin.I'm trying to get skin tone correct so any CC will be helpful.
